Case Studies

San Francisco Case Studies is an annual event to provide junior parents/guardians and their students an opportunity to learn and understand the college admission process by reviewing sample college applications. The event is held at St. Ignatius College Preparatory on March 31, 2019, from 2:30 to 5 p.m. Doors open at 2:15 p.m.

We are asking families to download the sample applications below prior to the event so they can be ready to discuss the applications with the college admission representatives and decide who will receive an acceptance, wait list or denial letter from the fictitious college.

Case Studies is a day where college representations will review and discuss sample college applications and work with students and parents/guardians in a classroom setting to discuss and evaluate the decision-making process that is involved in undergraduate admissions. Parents, guardians, and students will be in a classroom with a college representation to decide who will get admitted, denied and waitlisted from four different sample college applications. It is an extremely valuable experience to help families understand the holistic review in undergraduate admissions and how all the variables of course selection, GPA, test scores, essays, recommendations, and activities weigh in on admission decisions.

Junior level parents/guardians are welcome to attend and NO RSVP is required. Please be aware that this event will be attended by students from all our private/independent high schools in San Francisco so finding parking will be a challenge.

The last hour will be a college fair (nearly 100 colleges) for all junior level parents, guardians, and students. We look forward to seeing you there!

  • Please download the sample applications below prior to the event. Hard copies will not be available on campus.
  • Students and parents/guardians will be in separate classrooms.
