Exploring Faith, Identity & History: A Family Holocaust Education Program
Posted 02/07/2018 08:41AM

This coming Monday, February 12 in Bannan Theater a team of 8 Sophomore students and their parents have helped me to create a special evening event -- Exploring Faith, Identity and History: A Family Holocaust Education Program.

Through their leadership and planning as well as a grant from the Tauber Fellowship, we will host

  • AnneMarie Yellin, Holocaust Survivor
  • Dr. Alan Rosen, Yiddish Scholar from Yad Vashem
  • Marin School of the Arts Choir, Novato High.
The evening will commence with a song about themes of Faith and Resistance, sung in Yiddish. Yellin will share her story as a German youth, forced into hiding in a Catholic Convent. Rabbi Rosen was a student of Elie Wiesel, the author of the memoir that all sophomores read, Night. He was my favorite professor this past summer when I studied at the Israeli Holocaust Memorial Museum known as Yad Vashem.
  • We will offer dinner to those who attend from 6:00 to 6:30. The RSVP on the link below (also embedded into the Google form) is necessary for catering purposes.
  • There will be a photo exhibit on display, The Legacy Project thanks to another Tauber Fellow, Jim McGarry of Mercy HS
  • The event is free and families are encouraged and invited to attend!
There will be time for Q&A and personal sharing from all those in attendance.

If you are interested, please join us! The form is here and on the poster as well.
Please encourage your students and their family members to attend as well.
