SI in the News
Cooper, who is currently in Philadelphia getting ready to row for SI crew in the national championships, offered his salutatory on video thanks to SITV moderator Mike Santos and SITV President Alex Ring '18, who flew there Tuesday. They filmed Wednesday and Thursday morning and then edited the video from 1 to 10 p.m. Thursday, taking the red-eye back to SFO to share Cooper's words with the assembled student body at the Awards Assembly. Enjoy!
Cooper Veit Salutatorian 2018
Below is Principal Ruff's introduction of Cooper:
The next speaker at our Awards Assembly is chosen by the Graduation Committee in consultation with the graduating class and the faculty, for the honor of giving the salutatory address.
The salutatorian is selected as an embodiment of the spirit of the Class of 2018. Manifesting the Ignatian values of our school and marked by the love and respect of the entire class, the salutatorian is chosen to address the community so that we can remember and celebrate the last four years. This year's salutatorian has demonstrated true versatility in what it is to be an Ignatian with gifts in the classroom, in athletics, on the stage, with the written word, and in our community. The accomplishments are many...
- 200 hours of community service
- writer for SI Live
- leadership in the Finance Club, the Model United Nations Club, and Speech and Debate
- published in both The Quill and Inside SI
All this, and still found time to play two sports
This is an impressive list and but this is an impressive young man.
It is my pleasure to introduce your 2018 Salutatorian, Cooper Veit.
