Boys' Soccer makes CA history with first ever NorCal Title
Posted 03/10/2018 11:19PM

This is the first year the CIF has sponsored competition on the NorCal and SoCal levels. Up until this point, the farthest any team could go was the sectional title.

For the second year straight, SI won both the league and CCS titles. This year, they advanced to the D1 playoff games, beating Marin Academy and Folsom before taking on Montgomery of Santa Rosa on March 10. At Montgomery High School, the 'Cats scored the first goal thanks to Seamus Lucey. After Montgomery tied the game 1–1, Nicholas Brown made it 2–1 in favor of SI with 8:50 to go in the game. A minute later, Montgomery tied the game once again, forcing an overtime period. Alex Bailey scored the "golden goal" as it's called to give SI the first ever NorCal crown in the history of the state.

Congrats to head coach Alan Downey, assistant coach Stephen Cordova and all the players!
