SPEDICK, Sr., Paul C. December 10, 1921 - May 30, 2017 Paul C. Spedick, Sr., of Santa Rosa passed away on May 30, 2017. His dearly loved, oldest son, Paul Jr. passed away a mere 24 hours prior, early on the morning of May 29. Dad and Paul were very close and we know that they are finally at peace and surely struggle free. Dad and his twin sister, Patsy, were born in Fairfax, California and the family moved to San Francisco in the early 1930s. Dad attended St. Ignatius and later USF. He served with the 2nd Marine Division in one of the bloodiest battles of World War II at Tarawa. Dad received a presidential citation and bronze star for his service, along with the four surviving members of his unit. Dad and Mom, Marie, were married in April 1945 and had four children, Paul Jr., Michael, Peggy and Susie. Dad was a devout Catholic, dedicated father and beloved English teacher at Analy High School in Sebastopol. His sarcasm and dry wit were mainstays of his teaching and his students, of over 30 years, adored him. Dad worked out every day, up until a few months before his death and enjoyed playing tennis until his late 80s. Dad was truly one of a kind, not one to stand on pretense and able to spot a "phony" a mile away. Dad was predeceased by his loving wife Marie. He is survived by loving children, Michael (Peggy), Peggy (Barry) and Susie, grandchildren Nathan, Stuart, Christopher, Nicole and Eleanor (deceased), great-grandchildren, Abby, Sam, Kaia, Aedan, Mae, Elle and Drew. A celebration of both Paul's will be in mid-June. For information about the services please email Susie at
