Robert Joseph Meagher '42

Robert Joseph Meagher passed away on March 2, 2017, in Walnut Creek, CA. He was born on July 17, 1924 in San Francisco, CA., to Joseph Edward Meagher and Madeline Cregan Meagher. He attended St. Monica's Catholic School, and St. Ignatius High School, in San Francisco. The Meaghers emigrated from the city of Limerick, Ireland in the 1860's and are old time San Franciscans. Bob proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He graduated from USF in 1947, after returning from the war in the Pacific. He was married to Margaret Cullen for over 35 years before her death in 1999. He is survived by his wife of 15 years Frances Buschman Meagher, his step daughters Gay (Farrell Arndt) Paris, and Joyce Brown, and their families. Bob was predeceased by his sister Catherine Marie Meagher and is survived by his sister Madelyn Meagher Trepp, nieces Marlene (Dave) Rowland, Alice E. Trepp, nephew William Jeffrey (Joanne McHocko) Trepp, great niece Jen Rowland and her husband Matt Hogan, and many Meagher cousins. Internment was private.
