Gene Semenza passed away peacefully on February 3, 2017. He is survived by his wife Kathie of 52 years, his children Gene (Christine), Susan (John) Morrison and Richard (Stephanie), grandchildren, Gino, Alex, Mitchell, Richard, Ariana and Rebecca, many cousins and his faithful hunting companion, Heidi. He was preceded in death by his parents Gene and Angela Semenza.
Gene was born May 17, 1938 in San Francisco, graduated St. Ignatius High school ('56) served in the U.S. Marine Corps, and retired after 30 years at CSAA. A resident of San Bruno for 43 years, Gene was an active volunteer at St. Robert's Parish, his children's schools and San Bruno Baseball. Proud of his Italian heritage, he was a member of many Italian Clubs and in 2013 was named Man of the Year by IACC. He had a lifelong love of SF Giants, hunting, fishing and bocce. His friendly outgoing nature will be missed by all.
Friends may visit Monday, February 13, 2017 from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at St. Robert's Catholic Church, 1380 Crystal Springs Road, San Bruno where a Vigil Service will be held at 7:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the church Tuesday, February 14th at 10:30 am. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation in Gene's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or St. Vincent de Paul Society.
