Intermediate-Advanced Contemporary Dance Technique, Improvisation & Composition

Céline (SI Class of ’98) has been performing, improvising, teaching, and dance making nationally and internationally for over 10 years. Her professional credits include working on Broadway, with Cirque Du Soleil, and for a variety of contemporary choreographers and companies abroad as well as here in the Bay Area including Kimi Okada, Christy Funsch, Jo Kreiter, and Katie Faulkner. She completed her MA in Contemporary Dance from the London Contemporary Dance School in ‘08 and in ‘12 she received an Isadora Duncan Award for dancing in the collaborative work ‘Terra Incognita: Revisited’.

As a dance educator, Céline enjoys working with all ages and levels. Her guiding principle is to offer rigorous training while still nurturing the creativity of each student. Her personal movement style plays with shifts of weight, directional change, rhythmic phrasing, inversions, isolations, and fluid traveling in and out of the floor.

In the Dance Intensive for SI students, Céline will guide students through stylized warm-ups & phrase work as well as improvisations, contact work, & short composition assignments.
