Core Project Planning

A Well Planned Core Project is an opportunity to make a Difference!

Prior to the start of your Core Project, students are asked to submit your plan to the Community Service.

Students do this by submitting the Core Project Application Online.

The online core forms will guide you to tell us what exactly you will be doing for your project.

Before you fill these forms out you should already know:

  •  where you will be volunteering (must be a non-profit)
  •  what type of volunteer activity you will be doing
  •  what your schedule will be as you serve

In order to plan a Core Project please connect with your host agency in person to set up your volunteer activity. If you need assistance in learning about potential places for core projects, come on in to see us!

Once you submit Community Service forms we will review your plans. If your project is all set and fits our SI core criteria, you will receive notification from us to begin your project.

Please don't forget! Planning a core project takes a little preparation and effort. If you want to do a project during the summer, its good to start making plans in March so that you can have it ready before we break for summer. Community Service is here daily during the school year to assist you as you determine the way you want to service. During the summer months, our office is not open as often. It will be very important to get your core project approved before summer begins.

If you ever have questions about whether a service activity can be credited to your graduation requirement, please contact Community Service personally. We are here to assist you in making a difference!
