Mr. Alvarado began his career at St. Ignatius as a student graduating in 2006. He went on to earn his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Seattle University. Mr. Alvarado returned to SI to coach Cross Country and Track. In 2014, he earned his MA in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis in School Counseling and his PPS Credential from the University of San Francisco. Katie Blaesing joins SI in the fall of 2012 with a Masters in Counseling Psychology from New College (2008) and her BFA from the Boston Conservatory (2003). Katie began her career in education teaching at Charles Armstrong School in Belmont before joining Mercy High School in Burlingame where she acted as Director of Counseling. Ms. Campoverdi has worked at St. Ignatius since 2007. She was born and raised on the east coast and calls Boston home. She graduated from the College of Holy Cross with a B.A. in Psychology, a minor in Spanish and a certificate in Latin American Studies. Ms. Campoverdi traveled west for the Jesuit Volunteer Corps and then graduated from the University of San Francisco with a M.A. in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis in Educational Counseling and a Pupil Personnel Services Credential. At her previous school, she worked as a counselor and taught Psychology. Ms. Campoverdi recently completed a M.A. in Pastoral Ministry at Boston College and assists with SI’s Campus Ministry and moderates the Cancer Awareness and Upper Division Social Justice clubs. Mr. Delaney finished his MA in Counseling Psychology/School Counseling at USF in May 2011 and also earned his PPS credential there. He has his bachelor’s in Liberal Arts from SFSU and has worked at SI as Magis Academic Coordinator, Computer Lab Coordinator, Assistant Frosh/JV/Vars Football Coach, Head Freshmen Baseball Coach for 6 years and Assistant Varsity Baseball Coach for 2 years. Mr. Egan joins SI in the fall of 2015 after spending the previous 7 years as a counselor at Serra High School in San Mateo. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia with a major in English and a minor in Economics. He later received masters degrees from Rutgers University (English Education) and Montclair State University (Counseling). Before moving to San Francisco with his wife in 2008, Mr. Egan served for 6 years as a counselor at Christian Brothers Academy in Lincroft, NJ, from which he also graduated. Sarah Estes Merrell
Ms. Merrell joined St. Ignatius in 2006. Before coming to S.I., Ms. Merrell was the Director of Classroom Services at a Bay Area Art and Design University where she oversaw educational support services to students with disabilities. She graduated from the University of San Francisco with a B.A. in Sociology and an M.A. in Counseling Psychology in Education and a Pupil Personnel Services Credential. Ms. Frazer comes to SI with over 20 years experience in the real estate business, office management and administration. She has been in education since 2006 and has a passion for faith, family and working with children. Ms. Frazer is a San Francisco native and graduate of Cal Poly State University. Michelle Nevin Levine joined Si in the Fall of 1995 and worked as both a personal and college counselor for 13 years. She then went on to become SI Dean of Students for the next 9 years and returns this year as our new Director of Counseling. She graduated with a BA in Developmental Psychology from California State University, Chico and went on to earn a Pupil Personnel Services Credential and MA in Educational Psychology from the University of San Francisco.
Mrs. Murphy earned her MA in Secondary Education with an emphasis in Counseling from SFSU in 1999 and as a Multi-Subject Teaching credential from SFSU as well. She graduated from St. Mary’s College in Moraga in 1983 with a degree in Liberal Arts. Mrs. Murphy has served at SI since 1988 as Assistant Director of Admissions, Assistant Dean, Coordinator of Student Activities, volleyball coach, Service Club Moderator, Student Council Moderator, Counselor, Counseling Department Chair and Assistant Principal for Student Affairs. Ms. Mendoza was born and raised in Daly City, CA. She earned her B.A in Human Development and minored in Education at UC Davis. For the past four years, she has worked as a Children’s Services Coordinator at First Step for Families homeless shelter in San Mateo. In addition, she worked as a School Counselor at San Mateo High School. Ms. Mendoza recently graduated from the University of San Francisco where she received her M.A. in Counseling Psychology and a Pupil Personnel Services Credential. Julie St. Clair
Ms. St. Clair joined the St. Ignatius counseling team in the fall of 2010. Originally from the Boston area, she left the east coast to attend the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor where she earned a B.A. in Psychology. She later moved west and earned her Masters in Counseling Psychology and Pupil Personnel Services Credential at the University of San Francisco. Ms. Totah, a Bay Area native, graduated from SI in 2007. She received degrees in English and Psychology from Santa Clara University in 2011 before spending a year in the Jesuit Volunteer Corps in New Orleans as a community center counselor. At the University of San Francisco, she worked as a Resident Minister while earning her Master's in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy and License Practical Clinical Counseling. In the fall of 2015, she returned to SI to cover for a counselor out on maternity leave. She spent last spring at Mercy Burlingame, where she served as an academic counselor. Ms. Withers is a native of San Francisco and has joined the SI community for the Fall 2016. She started her work in higher education at New York University as a Recruitment Specialist and then as an Assistant Director of Admission for Teachers College, Columbia University. She received her Bachelors degree in Journalism and Mass Communication at a Historically Black College and University, North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and her Masters degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs at New York University. Mr. Calabrese began his Jesuit education at Jesuit High School in Carmichael, CA. He then attended Santa Clara University to obtain a Bachelors in Psychology, and completed a Masters in Clinical Psychology at Notre Dame de Namur in Belmont. He is licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist and has provided psychotherapy and clinical support at both public and private schools as well as non-profit organizations. He also maintains a small private practice on the peninsula, working primarily with adolescents and their families. Mr. Calabrese will be serving as the Wellness Coordinator to continue to develop the Sophomore Wellness Seminar and provide support to students through the Wellness Program. Ms. Jenene Slatt joins the Wellness Team this year as our Interim Wellness Coordinator, covering for Ms. Jennifer Krasner while she is on maternity leave this fall. A graduate of St Ignatius College Prep (class of '97), Ms. Slatt received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Tulane University in May of 2001. Along with a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Dominican University (2006), Ms. Slatt also maintains a Marriage and Family Therapy license (2011). For over a decade, she has worked as a school-based mental health services provider to Bay Area youth and their families, specializing in the treatment of alcohol and substance use disorders. Additionally, Ms. Slatt has extensive experience as a psychotherapist in the private practice setting, where she has provided clinical support to adolescents and their parents. In September of 2012, Ms. Slatt returned to SI as a Sophomore Wellness Seminar teacher. While she will continue to serve in this role, as well as to aid in the further development of our comprehensive Wellness Program, Ms. Slatt is now available to meet with students and their families 1:1 in order to support the social and emotional needs of the SI community. Pam Spaulding joined the St. Ignatius Wellness team in 2013. Ms Spaulding, originally from the East Coast, began her clinical education at UMASS with a Bachelors in Psychology, she went on to earn her Masters in Clinical Psychology at Antioch University in SoCal. She is a licensed CA Marriage and Family Therapist since 2006. Ms Spaulding has previous experience as a School Counselor for grades K-12 in both public and private settings. She has also worked therapeutically with adults, teens and families in community based, non-profit mental health agencies and in private psychotherapy practice. Ms Spaulding will be continuing the development of a comprehensive Wellness Program here at SI in addition to making herself available to students and their families for their social and emotional needs. Anna Maria Vaccaro
Mrs. Vaccaro came to SI in August 2011 with a Pupil Personnel Services credential, a MA in Counseling with a specialization in School, College and Career Counseling and a BA in Clinical Psychology with a minor in Relgious Studies. She has experience in academic personal and college counseling and has received awards for her accomplishments. Mrs. Vaccaro has served as the Guidance Director at Immaculate Conception Academy, a School Counselor at 21st Century Academy School, College Counselor at Thurgood Marshall High School, College Counselor at Skyline College, Counselor at Walden House Adolescent School Program and various other programs. Throughout her years of service she has done presentations and work at UC Berkeley, UC San Francisco and Expanding your Horizons. She has been working in education since 1993. Stephanie is a native of the Bay Area. She was born in the Sunset and lived there until she was four. Her family and her migrated a little south on the peninsula, to Millbrae, where the sun peers out just a bit more. She received her B.A in Liberal Studies with a major concentration in Sociology from the University of California, Riverside. She then went on to earn her Masters in Counseling Psychology and Pupil Personnel Services Credential at the University of San Francisco in 2011. At her previous school, she was the College, Career and Financial Aid Advisor. On her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, doing Bikram Yoga and testing out her culinary skills. She looks forward to being fully integrated into the SI community.
