AP Appeals Process

It is the belief of the Social Science Department that any student who is interested in taking an AP course, who has demonstrated sufficient academic ability and interest as demonstrated by their general GPA at SI, ought to be able to. For this reason, the bar for getting into an AP course is moderate and the process is very simple.

In short, if students have a 3.2, or higher, unweighted GPA, they are automatically eligible for AP US History, AP Government A, and AP Psychology A. Any student who has a 3.4, of higher, unweighted GPA is eligible for the single-semester APs within the Department, AP Government B and AP psychology B.

Students who do not have the minimum unweighted GPA for an AP course in the Social Science department, as indicated above, are ineligible for the course. To appeal this, fill out the Social Science Appeals Form and submit to Ms. Devencenzi in room 321 no later than Friday, March 7.

Submit this form to Ms. Devencenzi personally. Do not leave it on the desk or chair. Do not have a counselor fill out the form for you.

The Social Science Appeals Form must be recieved by Ms. Devencenzi by March 7, 2014.

If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Devencenzi or any Social Science teacher.
