The 48th Annual Fashion Show
Benefiting the St. Ignatius Scholarship Fund
September 30 & October 1, 2017
CONGRATULATIONS CLASS OF 2018 & VOLUNTEERS
You are BRIGHT STARS!
This past weekend the 48th Annual Ignatian Guild Fashion Show, SI LIGHTS: the World is our Runway took place at SI. What a perfect way to kick off the new school year! This extraordinary SI tradition celebrated our senior class and the SI community. All proceeds the Ignatian Guild raised from the Fashion Show were donated to the SI scholarship fund. To our generous underwriters, thank you for lighting the way for current and future wildcats to enjoy the many blessings of a Jesuit education.
I want to HIGHLIGHT our talented Fashion Show Chairs, Monica Myers, Patti Sheedy, Sheila McCarthy, and Esther Arnold. These incredible women worked tirelessly to create an amazing event which far exceeded the promise of being "LIGHTS OUT” fabulous. It has been an honor to work with such dedicated women. I applaud their deep commitment and love for SI. You are bright stars! Heartfelt thanks and gratitude to you and all of your countless committees.
The SI LIGHTS performances brought us on a magical journey with the 2018 senior class. Over the past 4 years, our seniors have been shining in their academics, co-curricular efforts and most importantly, in our hearts. We gathered in the beautifully transformed McCullough Gym to revel in the glow of the 300 senior models who have grown so much since they first arrived on campus in 2015. Their joyful gleam shone down on everyone as they walked, sang, and danced their way down the runway!
The Class of 2018 set a new school record for highest class participation in the Fashion Show. We couldn’t hold this group back! We also had a new record of volunteers. More than 300 parent volunteers, donors, clothing stores, and marketplace vendors have shared their time, talent, support, and guidance. Because of the countless volunteers, clothes were generously donated from vendors, our seniors learned to sing, dance, and strut down the “cat”walk, dressing rooms were filled, senior models were ushered flawlessly to and from the stage, full tummies became the norm at rehearsals, smiles during rehearsals were captured, tables were beautifully set and cleared, models enjoyed professional Hair and Makeup, sound/lighting and linens were perfectly chosen for the celebration, flowers filled the event, keepsake programs decorated each seat, guests were greeted with warm smiles, raffle baskets were created, wine was plentiful, and delicious meals were enjoyed. It is important to note that these records are the cumulative work of 47 past fashion show chairwomen and Ignatian Guild presidents. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. This event is not possible without all of you believing in our mission.
The SI Advancement Team shining stars, Kristin Haygood and Tricia Brown, deserve the limelight. You are the difference makers. THANK YOU! To all that helped make this event SPARKLE: Nancy Hess, Paul Totah, Tom Casey, Concie Tarantino, Rick Yang, Alex Ring, Ted Curry, Noah Haydon, Leslie Waggoner, Jason Pulido of Blue Print Studios, Gatsby Lighting, SI Fathers’ Club, and our very own SI Buildings and Grounds. "Many hands make LIGHT work”. This old adage describes the effort of this amazing group of Ignatians. They embody what is to be men and women with and for others. On behalf of the entire SI community, senior models, Fashion Show Chairs and committees, THANK YOU!
To our daily Beacons, Fr. Eddie Reese.S.J, Patrick Ruff, and our Ignatian Guild Spiritual Advisor, Rita O’Malley, your guidance and love for the Guild and the entire SI community is felt by all.
So Seniors, now that the your Fashion Show is behind you and your entire senior year lies ahead of you, continue to know what sparks the light in you and use it to illuminate SI and the world. Travel light...live light...be the light! The world truly is your runway!
Remember, no matter where life takes you, SI "will always leave the light on for ya".
Congratulations again on a LIGHTS OUT show!
