Our Faculty

They support the Jesuit philosophy of cura personalis and cura communis, caring for the individual and maintaining positive, respectful relationships with all members of the community. They also support Jesuit commitment to a faith that does justice.

They meet the needs of students of differing backgrounds and abilities and encouraging students to be risk-takers who learn from their mistakes. They also model and encourage an enthusiastic desire for lifelong learning.

They are also well prepared and engage in ongoing professional development. Nearly 100 hold masters degrees, and another five have earned their doctoral degrees.

Other Information

Lana Sum was raised in Berkeley, CA on a strict diet of Gordo's burritos and Zachary's pizza. After teaching in Thailand, L.A., and Boston, Ms. Sum is overjoyed to be back in the Bay Area declining nouns and building chariots with SI students. Aside from teaching Latin, she co-moderates the Junior Classical League (JCL) and participates in the Immersion Program. In her free time, she enjoys camping, yoga, and ancient ruins.
