What is an un-conference?
Join us for a casual day before the school year starts to meet, play and share ideas with other educators. It’s not just for tech folks in education, but anyone who works in a K-12 setting that is curious to learn, play and share ideas. You’ll leave with things to try out, fresh perspectives and maybe some new connections. Unconferences are built around the idea of participants driving the topics and the agenda.
Come ready to share, discuss or brainstorm one or two K-12 topics that are interesting to you! The agenda is interest-driven by those who attend.
Rather than a boring structured conference, this will be an “open space” meeting of the minds where participants drive the “energizing, free-wheeling exchange of ideas!”
What should I expect?
Un-conferences are built around the idea of participants driving the topics and the agenda. We will have a large agenda map with some already proposed ideas and room for you to add your own!
Come ready to share, discuss or brainstorm one or two K-12 topics that interest you. We have diverse group of educators and professionals working in education joining us!
Joined by these Two Amazing Speakers
For those of you WHO expressed interest in proposing a topic:
There is no need to prepare a formal presentation (this is not like other workshops or conferences). That morning, you can choose what to do--- share a tool, have us brainstorm solutions to a problem in education, facilitate a discussion. The agenda is very much interest-driven by those who attend.
What topics have been proposed so far?
Project based learning, document sharing tools, iPads, managing distraction, teaching with technology, social media, encouraging more girls in Tech, Learning Management Systems, communication in ed orgs, going 1:1, Responsible Use Policies. If you would like to propose a session not listed, do that on the day of the event.
Where are we meeting?
We will begin in the Bannan Theatre. Breakfast will be served when you arrive. Look out for signs--we will post them to guide you to the event.
