Sailing Club

The St. Ignatius Sailing Team is a competitive race team that competes throughout the state of California against high school teams that span the entire West Coast. We compete against high schools that count Sailing as a Varsity sport as well as against Club Sailing teams. We race FJ’s and participate in both the Pacific Coast Interscholastic Sailing Association (PCISA) regattas and the regional Northern California (NorCal) regattas. The team consists of approximately a dozen members. We practice out of the Saint Francis Yacht Club (StFYC) in the marina district of San Francisco. We are coached by StFYC’s high school coaches and race in the StFYC’s fleet of boats. We both practice with, and compete against, 6 other SF high school sailing teams (Convent/SH, University, Lick, Bay, Urban and International). This allows us to be part of a dynamic and large Bay Area high school sailing community. We are always looking for experienced new sailors to join us! Tryouts are held at the beginning of each fall season (usually mid to late August). If you are interested in learning more about our team, please contact any member of the team or one of our coaches.
