Scholarship Endowment

Endowed Scholarships - Invest in Access. Build a Legacy.
Providing access to a Jesuit education for families across the economic spectrum has been central to the mission of Jesuit schools since Ignatius of Loyola opened the first school in Messina, Italy, in 1548.
At St. Ignatius College Preparatory, this legacy lives on. We remain deeply committed to ensuring that cost is never a barrier to the transformational power of a Jesuit education.

The Scholarship Endowment Fund
A strong Scholarship Endowment Fund is essential to SI’s long-term financial sustainability. It provides a perpetual stream of revenue dedicated to student financial assistance.
We are grateful for all gifts—large and small. But our bold vision is to grow the fund to the point where it alone can meet the financial aid needs of our families, without relying on annual fundraising.
- Current Fund (as of June 2025): $110 million
- Goal: $150 million by 2035

Create a Named Scholarship
Interested in leaving a lasting legacy or honoring someone special?
You can create a named scholarship (e.g., The Smith Family Scholarship) with an initial gift of $10,000 or more.
Levels of Endowment:
- $25,000 – Partially Endowed: A student is matched with your scholarship, and the investment earnings begin to generate financial aid to support their education.
- $100,000 – Perpetually Endowed: Your scholarship exists in perpetuity.
- $500,000 – Fully Endowed: This scholarship level provides full tuition support for one student each academic year.

How Endowments Work
Endowed gifts are invested in full. Each year, only a portion of the income earned is spent, while the rest is reinvested to protect and grow the principal. This model ensures that your gift provides support forever.
Example of a Named Endowed Scholarship:
- An alumnus donates $25,000 to create a scholarship in memory of her husband.
- The gift is invested in SI’s endowment pool.
- Each year, a portion of the earnings provides tuition assistance to a deserving student.
- The remaining earnings are reinvested, preserving and growing the fund over time.
- The fund continues to support students for generations.

Support What You Value Most
Creating a named, perpetually endowed scholarship is a meaningful way to:
- Support future SI students
- Honor a loved one, family, or mentor
- Create a legacy aligned with your values
Once established, your scholarship becomes part of SI’s enduring tradition. Friends and family may also contribute, extending its reach and impact.
Your family and SI will share a lasting relationship, rooted in your shared commitment to education, opportunity, and the Jesuit mission.
