RIP Stephen Boisson 1955-2018 Sad to announce the recent unexpected passing of Stephen Boisson—hometown (Daly City) pal of mine and longtime family friend...musical partner in crime and brother I never had...fellow guitarist (and later, a music journalist and writer for various mags inc MUSICIAN and ACOUSTIC GUITAR)...many family trips and high school friendships and travels, we also shared a long musical bond, esp folk and blues ...with two acoustic guitars we busked on the streets of SF at the Cannery and Ghirardelli...started several garage bands (notably, Buffalo Louie) that never made it out the door.....stood in line for 12 hours in the rain to see the Stones at the Cow Palace....Elvin Bishop and the Dead at Winterland... (shots of Steve are actually IN the first Grateful Dead film)...We shared a flat on N Rampart St in New Orleans in the 80s and after that Steve ended up in Boston for some time , before making his way back to CA and eventually to LA. "Uncle" Steve later became Best man at my wedding, and godfather to my daughters. At this time memorial svcs in the SF area are pending. I will post any information I get. PS A few months back I finally transcribed my cassette copy of Steve's classic interview with blues giant Albert King, and posted it to Youtube. Steve was really excited. You can hear it HERE:
