Arrupe Progam and Financial Assistance Discounts for 2018-2019
SI has some exciting discounts available for families receiving financial aid. We want to be sure you know about all of them.
First, we want you to know about Arrupe Program eligibility: An Arrupe student is considered to be anyone who receives $11,000 or more in tuition assistance or whose families receives $17,000 or more in tuition assistance. About 220 students qualify for this program.
An additional 115 students receive tuition assistance but not enough to qualify for the Arrupe Program. These students still receive significant discounts.
Discounts for 2018-2019
Textbooks: Arrupe students are eligible to participate in the Arrupe Textbook Exchange Program, which allows students to use available textbooks during the academic year. (These must be returned.) If a textbook is not available, then your student will have to purchase the book from our regular bookstore. Date for this event is Monday, August 20, 2018 from 11:00am to 3:00pm in the St. Ignatius Library.
My School Bucks: Arrupe Program students receive a My School Bucks card from the Financial Assistance Program Manager in August and January, each worth $250. For students receiving $18,000 or more in financial assistance, their card will be loaded with $400 in August and January.
SAT Prep: Arrupe students receive a 50% discount for the SI SAT Prep course ; all other financial assistance recipients receive a discounted fee commensurate with their financial assistance percentage.
Academic Classes with Required Fees: Arrupe students receive 100% discount for class required fees; all other financial assistance recipients receive a discount commensurate with their financial assistance percentage.
Athletics: Credits for all students receiving financial aid, per sport in which they participate.
$11,000 or more in tuition assistance = $100
$10,999- $6000 in tuition assistance = $75
$5,999 or less in tuition assistance = $50
SI Summer Athletic League Participation: Arrupe students receive a discount of their percentage of financial assistance off of the total cost of the activity. All other students on assistance receive half of their percentage of assistance.
Travel for sports, clubs, classes or performing arts: Arrupe students receive a discount of their percentage of financial assistance off of the total cost of the activity. All other students on assistance receive half of their percentage of assistance.
For example, a trip costing $200 for a family receiving Arrupe aid of 50% of assistance will pay only $100 for that trip. A trip costing $200 for a non-Arrupe aid student receiving 40% of aid, will cost $160. This is with a 20% discount.
Athletic & Performing Arts Banquets: All Arrupe students receive complimentary tickets for one student and one parent to attend.
Proms: Arrupe students receive 50% off the price of their ticket.
College Counseling: Arrupe students can send four scores from SAT and ACT to colleges at no cost. Fee waivers for students on significant assistance are determined by national financial eligibility rules. Reduced fees for AP exam registration are also available.
Summer School: Incoming freshmen who are part of the Arrupe Program in the fall receive a discount on classes and camps (including Cat Camp) based on the percentage of assistance received. All other students requesting financial assistance must apply to the Summer School Program to receive a discount. (NOTE: No assistance will be available for students who are not current on their SI tuition payments)
CYO Bus Transportation to and from SI: Arrupe students will receive 50% of the percentage of their financial assistance toward the CYO Bus expense.
Technology: Discounts have already been provided to current Arrupe students for iPads. We are in the process of determining future discounts for the next academic year.
Community Service and Campus Ministry: These activities have their own financial assistance policies. Check with the staff for information when you receive notice of payment due.
Work Study Program: All sophomores who received financial assistance last year or who are currently receiving financial assistance will contribute 30 hours of service to the SI community. Students have been notified of this and must check in with the Financial Assistance Program Manager before Sept. 1.
