Support SI through the Compass Campaign

Last October, SI announced the launch of the Compass Campaign to add $50 million to the SI Scholarship Endowment Fund by 2020. We are a quarter of our way toward our goal. To learn more about this important endeavor, please visit our Compass Campaign site where you will see a series of videos, including the one above of former regent John Jack '73. If you'd like to help with this grand endeavor, use the form on this page.

Check out bonus content for the Summer Genesis

In case you haven't seen it, here's the summer issue of Genesis magazine. We also have some great bonus content that isn't in the magazine. We asked many of the authors for three quick tips or facts that don't appear in the issue. We are running them weekly, one by one, on our Facebook page, but you can also check them out here on our Quick List page.

Local parishes & schools celebrate 75 years

St. Gabriel Parish, located in the Sunset/Parkside District of San Francisco, is gearing up for a gala 75th Anniversary Jubilee Celebration Sept. 18 through 25. The Roman Catholic Parish came into being when Archbishop John J. Mitty, on June 28, 1941, appointed Father George J. Bedford its founding pastor. All friends, alumni, former parishioners, current parishioners, and neighbors are invited to attend the festivities that are planned for September 18-25, 2016. Festivities will start on Sunday, Sept. 18, with a Parish Picnic to be held at Pine Lake Park. The festivities will continue with a dinner to be held in Bedford Hall (at 41st Avenue and Ulloa) on Saturday evening, Sept. 24, at 6 p.m. with dancing to follow, and a silent auction. (Cost: $75 per person. Tickets are now on sale.) An Anniversary Mass will be celebrated on Sunday, Sept. 25, at noon at Saint Gabriel Church, with a reception to follow in Bedford Hall. For more information on these events please, contact the Parish Center at (415) 731-6161.

Holy Name School is celebrating its 75th Anniversary on Sept. 24. All former alumni and community members are invited to join in the school's celebration!  The event will begin with a Mass at 1:30 p.m. and a celebration following at 3 p.m. Register here for the event and/or to join our Alumni Association. If you have any questions please email the school principal, Natalie Cirigliano, at We hope to see you there!
