Freshman Foundations Summer Athletics Program
Freshman Foundations is an introductory program into SI Athletics during the month of June. The program is open to ALL athletes of ALL sports in the SI Class of 2026. It is the first opportunity for frosh to interact with our athletic performance training staff and is highly recommended before participating in our sports programs during the academic year. This is not a tryout nor is it a sport-specific program; rather, it is an athletic training program that is vital in introducing our freshman to our culture of athletic preparation, training, movement, and navigation of our weight rooms and training spaces.
The June program is four weeks long, four days a week, starting Monday June 6. The weekly program consists of a daily athletic training curriculum (12:45-2:45 p.m.) and also includes one social event per two-week session where our student-athletes can get to know their peers.
The social events are on the following dates:
- Week 2 - Giants Baseball Game (Wed – June 15)
- Week 4 - Bowling – (Wed – June 29)
The core of Freshman Foundations is to prepare you for your athletic journey as a St. Ignatius Athlete. Freshman Foundations is an introduction to athletic development through three key lenses: utility of energy levels, physical awareness (proprioception and movement), and athletic strength.
At SI we take an educational approach in training athletes with the focus of guiding athletes to be able to self-regulate, communicate clearly with athletic resources (coaches/trainers) their needs and goals, and together create and execute the best practices and processes to become a better athlete. All we ask is that student-athletes come focused with an open mind, ready to work and learn how to become an improved athlete. The four-week program will be led by SI Performance Coaches Gustavo Manzanares, Max Betkowski, and staff. Together the team of coaches bring extensive experience in working with athletes in all phases of athletic development. The Athletics Department is excited to welcome the next group of great athletes at St. Ignatius.

Dates, Prices and Times
- 1st Camp Session - Two-Week Program - $300 (Weeks of June 6 & June 13)
- 2nd Camp Session - Two-Week Program - $300 (Weeks of June 20 & June 27)
- Full Camp Session - Four-Week Program - $500 (Weeks of June 6 - June 27)

Registration will take place on the north end of the SI Track starting at 12:00 PM on Monday June 6. You will receive a Freshman Foundations t-shirt on the first day of registration. Please come prepared with the following:
- Athletic attire (Shorts, T-shirt, Socks, Shoes)
- Water bottle that you can refill for hydration purposes
