J.B. Murphy Field and Jack Wilsey ’34 Track
Named for SI’s longtime athletic director and 50-year veteran teacher who retired in 1989, the J.B. Murphy Field is home to Wildcat football, lacrosse, soccer, and track and field teams.
Barbara and Bob McCullough Gymnasium
The McCullough Gymnasium can seat 2,650 and is used for basketball and volleyball games, intramurals, rallies, award ceremonies, and school liturgies. It is spacious enough to allow for two simultaneous full-court practice sessions.
Opened in 1969 when SI first moved to the Sunset campus, the Cowell Pavilion is still an essential space, used for basketball and volleyball practices and games, as well as various other school functions, from assemblies to club fairs.
Don ’43 and Marge Gordon Practice Field
The Gordon Practice Field gives teams flexible space for a wide variety of activities, whether football, soccer, or lacrosse. During the day, students often use it as an open green, gathering for lunch and relaxation outdoors.
SI's four on-campus tennis courts sit on the south side of campus, adjacent to the Gordon practice field.
The Herbst Natatorium, with its eight-lane pool built in 1994, is home to SI's swimming, diving, and water polo teams. Students also use it for physical education classes and engineering classes have held cardboard boat regattas here.
Jane and James Ryan ’51 Weight Training Facility
SI offers two separate weight rooms, one with free weights and platforms and the second with weight machines in addition to free weights, platforms, and exercise bikes. Students can sign up for the weight training classes or for the Wildcat Readiness Program while off-season or train with the weights when their sports are in-season. Students can also consult with fitness staff and use the facilities for their own workout programs.
SI Athletics Complex
The home of SI's baseball, softball, and field hockey programs, the SI Athletics Complex is a multi-sport artificial-turf facility just minutes away from our Sunset campus, in Pacifica.
