The Adm. Daniel Callaghan Society

Admiral Daniel J. Callaghan, a Saint Ignatius graduate and devout Catholic, gave his life for his country and was awarded the Medal of Honor for heroics at the Battle of Guadalcanal on November 13, 1942.  The Admiral Daniel J. Callaghan Society honors the legacy of Saint Ignatius graduates who have served their country through military service and promotes service as a calling, consistent with SI’s mission of forming “men and women for others.” The Society intends on promoting service to country through an annual essay contest, raising money to support student activities related to this aspiration of service, and providing mentorship to students considering military service after Saint Ignatius.

Join the Admiral Daniel J. Callaghan Society with a one-time membership fee of $25.00. This fee is waived for currently serving members of our Armed Forces. Membership includes:

  • Participation in a Society that promotes military service at SI
  • An invitation to the annual essay contest dinner event.
  • Invitation to all Callaghan Society events
  • Opportunity to mentor and engage with Callaghan Club students
  • Quarterly newsletter

Please consider making a donation to the Callaghan Society and accelerate the difference that we can make together in recognizing the legacy of Saint Ignatius alumni who have served in the military and supporting students who aspire to continue that legacy.
