Dropoff and Pickup Procedure

SI Traffic and Parking Plan

We have implemented a southbound direction-only procedure for student drop-off and pickup. These procedures are for student and pedestrian safety. The plan is designed to eliminate double parking, reduce traffic back-up on Sunset Blvd., and prevent car accidents and injuries caused by backups and students jaywalking between traffic.

Please follow directions given by SI guards. Do not double park in traffic lanes, stop in the cross-walks or bus zone, as these actions back up traffic and are prohibited by law.

Official White Zone No Stopping

SCHOOL DAY MORNING DROP-OFFS 8-10:15 a.m. AND AFTERNOON PICKUPS 2:30-7 p.m.:  We require families approaching school to use pickup zones in the southbound direction only. There are two AM drop-off zones and one PM pickup zone in front of the school along 37th Ave. The AM-only zone is located between McGucken Hall and Orradre Courtyard. The AM-and-PM zone is south of Quintara, in front of the gym landings. We have approximately 700 cars using these drop-off and pickup lines before and after school, so please move forward as far as possible to the top of the coned lanes before unloading or loading passengers. Stopping short causes backup in the crosswalks and onto Sunset Blvd. Please have your students prepared to exit or enter your vehicle promptly, with student drivers switching out with parent drivers before entering the zones.

Parents and visitors who have business with the school may park in the white zone between the hours of 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

On Saturdays, the PM pickup zone is open from 2:30-7 p.m.

Prohibited

Double parking or stopping is prohibited for drop-off or pickup in the northbound traffic lane between Pacheco and Rivera on 37th Ave.  Students will be subject to detention if observed exiting double-parked vehicles and/or jaywalking along 37th Ave.

Keep Traffic Moving

If you find insufficient room to pull into the drop-off zones, please drive around the block and re-enter the drop-off zones when space is available. Do not double-park or make U-turns along 37th Ave. or at the intersections.

Afternoon Co-curricular Pickup at 6 p.m.

Drivers are to approach school via the southbound direction only between Quintara and Rivera. Move forward and have the student enter your vehicle promptly. The school provides commuter bus pickup for Marin County and San Mateo County, so please do not wait or park in the bus zone. Buses used for commuting, practices, games, and retreats need to be able to park in the bus zone throughout the day and on Saturdays.

Parking

Students who drive to school are required to display a Student Parking Permit, regardless where they park while at school. Parking on 37th Ave. between Pacheco and Quintara Streets is reserved for faculty and staff only. All student drivers must register for parking permit and display them on their driver-side front windshields.  This has proven to be beneficial in identifying student cars about to be towed for illegal parking or blocking our neighbors' driveways. The average cost of a citation and tow is $700.00. Parking beyond the cut of the driveway curb will warrant a citation and tow. If ticketed, students are not to approach the homeowner of a driveway they blocked. Complaints to the Deans' Office for students illegally parked may lead to detention.

The school garage on the south side of campus, under the tennis courts, is restricted to faculty and staff only on Mondays through Fridays, 6 a.m.-4 p.m. Students are allowed to park in the garage from 4-7 p.m. on weekdays.

Speed Limits

All streets adjacent to the school campus are designated as a 15 miles-per-hour school zone when students are present. Please watch your speed!

Thank you for your cooperation!
