SI can accommodate up to 700 applicants to St. Ignatius College Preparatory, who submitted their Admissions application by the Nov. 16, 2026 deadline, for the Dec. 5, 2026 testing date at SI. The applicant indicates the exam location and date on the High School Placement Test (HSPT) section of their online application to St. Ignatius College Preparatory.
We recognize that our application deadline is likely earlier than other Catholic school(s), however applicants do not need to choose SI as their HSPT testing location. We encourage those students who are applying to other Catholic schools administering the HSPT to take the test at the other Catholic schools. All schools who administer the HSPT will share results with each other. The location of where an applicant takes the HSPT will have no bearing on their admissions decision. Applicants choosing to take the exam at another Catholic High School (where they have submitted an application) are responsible for making a reservation with that high school. Other Catholic schools that are administering the HSPT: Archbishop Riordan High School, Bishop O'Dowd High School, De La Salle High School, Junipero Serra High School, Mercy High School Burlingame, Notre Dame High School Belmont, Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory, St. Vincent de Paul High School. Students typically need to submit an application in order to test at these locations. We will communicate HSPT information to all applicants after the Nov. 16, 2026 application deadline.
The HSPT is one test on one day and we look at a variety of factors when making Admissions Decisions. However, the HSPT helps determine initial course placements for a student's Frosh year for English, Math and Biology. The HSPT results will be provided with your Admissions Notification letter.
Applicants with a Documented Learning Difference, Other Diagnosis or Need for Any Accommodations will take the High School Placement Test (HSPT) on Saturday, Dec. 12, 2026. Accommodations for the HSPT include Extended Time, Use of a Calculator and/or Marking your Answers Directly in the test booklet. Please upload your diagnostic report in the "Learning Documentation" section of the online Admissions application. Only applicants who upload their documentation to their Admissions application will be considered for accommodations on the HSPT and be eligible for services through our CATS center if admitted to St. Ignatius. The Admissions Application (with your uploaded documents) must be submitted by the November 16, 2026 deadline in order to be eligible for testing with accommodations at SI on Saturday, Dec. 12, 2026. Applicants who need access to a cell phone for medical reasons, are actively using crutches or recovering from a concussion will also test on Saturday, Dec. 12, 2026.
Our HSPT make-up date is Saturday, Dec. 12, 2026. We have availability for a small group of applicants who were sick and/or have extenuating circumstances preventing them from attending the Dec. 5, 2026 HSPT testing date at SI. Please email admissions@siprep.org for more information and to check if there is availability on our make-up testing date.
