Columbus Piazza

The Columbus Piazza, named for director Chris Columbus and his wife, Monica Devereux, provides a place for students to congregate before and after school and during recess and lunch. Overlooking the Pacific Ocean, the piazza offers stunning views and an opportunity for students to dream big as they look out at the edge of the continent. Below the piazza is housed the Mary Ann and Jack Gibbons Hall of Music and the Doris Duke Wall Choral Room, which opened in September 2007. This facility offers SI’s Chamber Singers, Mixed Chorus and the Men’s Chorus a place to practice and to perform. The room, with its state-of-the-art sound and video system, makes it an ideal venue for large meetings and for guest speakers.  The room is also used for the piano recital, held every winter.
