Good Neighbor Program

In late November 2016, the SI Security team discovered stolen property dumped over the fence near the football field.  The owners of the stolen luggage were identified by the name tags on the luggage and contacted.  Turns out two gentlemen arrived the night before in SF from NY and had their rental car broken into while dining on Irving/8th.  Over $30,000 dollars of computer and camera equipment were stolen, along with thier U.S. Passports.  SFPD was called to the scene and took possession of the recovered stolen property.  After I posted this information on NextDoor. com a neighbor responded that she witnessed 2-3 men running from the SI fence line the night before and left in two separate cars, white and silver sedans, possible Corlla or Sentra.

While investigating this incident I found out that the SF District Attorney's Office has a registry where residents can submit information about any surveillance cameras they may have on their property.  SI has registered our cameras and would like to encourage all our neighbors to do the same.

Thank you,
Marybeth G. McFarland
Director of Security

While our Sunset District campus is the last of our six campuses since our founding in 1855, we have been here longer than any of our other homes. We started building in the 1960s in the sand dunes, and we opened our doors in 1969. Since then, we have worked to be a good neighbor to those who live near us, and this website is a continuation of those efforts.

Good Neighbor Program

We are now launching the Good Neighbor Program to help with problems you might have with our school community, from parking and litter to noise or street congestion. With your help, we also intend to do more. As part of our Good Neighbor Program, we want you to make use of the school's resources. Come to a play or musical. Enjoy watching our boys and girls compete with crosstown rivals or schools from the South Bay. Take a swim in our pool, which is open to the community. Please check out our calendar of events to see what we’re offering from August through May.

Tell your neighbors about us too. Tell them to go to to find this site.

Contact Us

If you need to contact us for any reason to let us know about any issue (noise, litter, parking), to report a problem affecting the entire neighborhood (car break-ins) or to request a service from our students (such as lifting heavy furniture) fill out this form or call one of the numbers below.

Also feel free to contact our Good Neighbor ambassadors: Pete Koch, who lives on Rivera Street, and Helmut and Jamey Schmidt, who live on 39th Avenue. Pete’s two children are SI grads, and the Schmidt’s have a daughter at SI. If you want to contact them instead of us, they welcome your comments.

If you want regular updates about what’s going on at SI, sign up for SI Connections, our monthly e-newsletter. Send a request to Director of Communications Tom Murphy, and he will add you to the mailing list.
