Graduating high school seniors who meet certain, academic, financial and eligibility requirements can receive free government funds towards their post-secondary education at a California approved institution.

What is the minimum Cal Grant GPA to qualify?
Cal Grant A Competitive Awards are for high school seniors who have a minimum of an unweighted 3.0 GPA [based on all 10th and 11th grades courses not including PE (pluses and minuses not calculated)]) who are from a low and middle income family.
Cal Grant B Competitive Awards are for high school seniors who have a minimum of an unweighted 2.0 GPA [based on all 10th and 11th grades course not including PE (pluses and minuses not calculated)] who are from low income families.
Note: The California Legislature often changes the qualifications and amounts for Cal Grants. Check the CA State Aid Commission website for the latest information.
The Counseling Department will use a GPA Verification Form for all seniors in the Fall who provide a Social Security Number to apply for Cal Grants. See your College Counselor for more details.
