SI in the News
Boys' Basketball: Bellarmine continues as the only undefeated team (10-0) in the WCAL but the Wildcats are just a game behind at 9-1. The Wildcats play a much improved Valley Christian team (@ Valley) on Wednesday and on Saturday, SI will host a very motivated Mitty team which SI defeated 70-66 at Mitty. If both teams win out in their remaining games (and no one is looking past these next few games) that sets up a potential championship game at SI on 2/18. SI leads the WCAL in points scored and will be and Open Division Qualifier for the section playoffs.
Girls' Basketball: The Wildcats had a fantastic preseason and ran into a talented SHC team at the Bruce Mahoney Game a few weeks ago. The WCAL presented an early challenge for SI but the team is trending in the right direction after a dominating win vs. Presentation last Friday night. We host SHC on Tuesday night and a win vs. a very talented Fightin' Irish team could really catapult this young team for the remainder of the season. When this team his playing on all cylinders, they can really score!
Boys' Soccer: The Wildcats have a chance to win this WCAL race wire-to-wire. The Cats sit on top of the league standings undefeated at 10-0. For those pundits out there who say there is no scoring in soccer, they clearly haven't seen the high octane SI offense led by a heap of scorers. This team is fast, skilled and can strike any time on the field. Two more wins would "seal the deal" and earn the 'Cats a WCAL Championship.
Girls' Soccer: When Pelè coined soccer as a beautiful game, he was clearly forecasting the playing style of this Wildcat soccer team. The Wildcats play a sound possession game with style and grace but have plenty of scoring ability as they too, are near the top of the WCAL, only 1 point from the top spot! Every game played and every point earned from here on out will be critical in these last 2 weeks of the season. — John Mulkerrins '89, Athletic Director
