David O'Connor, 86 years of age, passed away surrounded by his loving family on September 16, 2017. A native San Franciscan, he was born to John and Gertrude O'Connor, grew up in San Francisco and graduated St. Ignatius and University of San Francisco. David is survived by his wife of 24 years, Geraldine, and by his children, David, Linn, and Brian; by his grandson, Nicholas; by his sister Patricia and her husband, Walter, by Leslie Landers who he loved as a daughter, and by nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by Mildred, his wife of 33 years and his father and mother, John and Gertrude O'Connor.
David served in the Army during the Korean conflict and then spent his career in San Francisco with the Barrett Enterprises. After retiring, David dedicated his time to the Eucharistic Ministries for St. Bartholomew Church, San Mateo; to Second Harvest food deliveries to shut-ins; and to Beresford Gardens where he and fellow gardeners produced beautiful vegetables and flowers year-round.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, 600 Columbia Drive, San Mateo, at 10 a.m., Friday, September 29, 2017, with a reception to follow in the church gathering room. Private interment will be at Golden Gate Cemetery, San Bruno. In lieu of flowers, the family requests making a donation to St. Bartholomew's Educational Fund, or to a favorite charity in David's name.
