Community Service & Social Justice
September 2017 Update
thoughts on LABOR DAY
CONSIDER: "The exploitation of working people, whether subtle or obvious, injures their humanity and denies their inherent dignity. Exploited and mistreated workers require our care and solidarity. An economy that allows this exploitation and abuse demands our attention and action. As the bishops point out that in the Catholic Framework for Economic Life, 'By our choices, initiative, creativity, and investment, we enhance or diminish economic opportunity, community life, and social justice.'"

CONTEMPLATE: Check out DoSomething.org's 11 Facts about Labor Rights. Deeply consider this reality and what this means for our world, society, community, family.
PUT INTO ACTON:
- Learn about the places where your clothes are made. (For example, look for the tag on the inside back or side of your shirt.)
- Be inspired by one student campaign.
- Talk with your friends and figure out what you all want to do together.
Come visit us in our new office next to the bookstore/Prep Shop and directly behind the Student Center microwave.
