The Ellen Selfie

The 86th annual Oscars, airing this past February, made social media history. Comedian Ellen DeGeneres hosted the event solo and never ceased to make the audience laugh. She ordered pizza for world-renowned celebrities and debuted a generic pizza deliveryman to dish out slices to Oscar winner Jared Leto.

However, the most novel moment during the award ceremony was the Ellen Selfie as Ellen appeared in the crowed surrounded by A-List celebrities including Jennifer Lawrence, Meryl Streep, Bradley Cooper, Brangelina, Channing Tatum, Julia Roberts, half of Kevin Spacey’s face, and the vision of the night, Lupita Nyong'o. Ellen only joked when she wished for a record breaking number of retweets when the epic selfie went viral, but her wish came true with over 3.4 million retweets. Twitter emailed her later in the night to deliver the good news as well as informing her that she single-handedly crashed the website. The tweet defeated Obama's record for most retweets. Her only regret was "if only Bradley's arm was longer."
