Professor Richard E. Moore '52

Professor Richard E. Moore Was born July 30, 1933 in San Francisco where he graduated from St. Ignatius High School in 1952. He later attended the University of San Francisco (B.S. 1957, M.S. 1959) and UC-Berkeley (Ph.D. 1962) where he graduated with a degree in chemistry. He moved to Hawaii in 1962 where he joined the faculty of the Department of Chemistry at the University of Hawaii until his retirement in 2003. Professor Moore was a leading authority in the field of marine natural products chemistry and drug discovery. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Marilyn; four children, Gregory, Christopher, Bradley and Lori, and nine grandchildren. Services will be held in Honolulu at Star of the Sea Church on Wednesday, December 19. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Cardinal Newman Society or the Richard E. Moore Memorial Fund at the University of Hawaii Foundation in his honor.
