Judge George D. Murphy, Jr. The Murphy Family is sad to announce the death of Judge George D. Murphy, Jr. Judge Murphy was born in San Francisco, CA, on May 27, 1916 and died peacefully on February 23, 2008. He attended St. Ignatius High School and graduated from the University of San Francisco receiving a bachelors of arts degree and subsequently earning a doctorate degree from the School of Law. Judge George Murphy worked for over 12 years for the State of California. He was also an attorney in private practice and served as county counsel in Merced County. Judge Murphy was a proud veteran of the World War II where he held the rank of Army lieutenant. Judge Murphy's greatest treasure in life was his wife, Virginia E. Murphy. They married in the Chapel of Our Lady in the Presidio in San Francisco on June 7, 1944. He is survived by his wife of 64 years; his children, Kevin, Robert, and Elizabeth, and his grandchildren. Judge Murphy loved his wife and family and gave his heart and soul to them. He will be greatly missed and loved forever. We have lost a great and wonderful man.???
