John Francis Petrin Resident of San Francisco since childhood, and proud son of Montana, born in Anaconda on April 2, 1932. Died peacefully, but unexpectedly, at home on October 11, 2007. Husband of the late Claire Alexine Malley; beloved father of Katherine, Nancy and Mary Alexine Petrin; father-in-law to Daniel Leonard and Jim Kehoe; dear Papa to Olivia Claire Leonard; brother of Roy Petrin and wife Janis. Loved by extended family: Raphael and Gabrielle Leonard, David and Maureen Condon and Stan Teng; and dear family friends and neighbors of over 40 years, Joe and Beverly Desmond and family. Preceded in death by his parents John Petrin and Katherine Maricich. Survived by many loving nieces, nephews and cousins and dear family in Montana. Graduate of St. Peter's Grammar School, St. Ignatius Class of '50 and University of San Francisco Class of '54. John retired from Southern Pacific Railroad after a 30 year career. Longtime parishioner at St. Stephen's, past president of the Men's Club and booster of Friday Night Bingo. Proud member of Tipperary Supporters Club; friend of San Francisco Zen Center /Green Gulch Farm. Friends and family are invited to attend a Vigil Service Monday, 7:00pm, and a Funeral Mass Tuesday, October 16 at 12:15pm, ALL at St. Stephen Church, 601 Eucalyptus, SF. Private Burial Services.
