Choir Hearings
All students wishing to sing in this year’s choirs are invited to an informal hearing on Monday and Tuesday, August 25, 26 from 2:30p – 5:00 in the choral room. A hearing is an opportunity for me to listen to individual singers and place them in the appropriate choral ensemble. A hearing is approximately 4-5 minutes in length (click here for hearing procedures & forms). A signup sheet will be posted outside the Choral Room during the first week of classes. Interested students should sign their name at a time slot. Alternatively, you can fill out this form and reserve your time slot before 8/25. I will post and update daily the list beginning the week of 8/18. Monday 8/25 | Tuesday 8/26
If you are interested in participating in Chamber Singers, check the box on the hearing form and bring with you to your hearing. Chamber Singers is an advanced ensemble and requires an extra callback audition and approval of the director. In addition, members in Chamber Singers are required to sing in Concert Choir.
2008-09 Choir Calendar
Here at the choir calendar are all rehearsal and performance dates. It is a Google calendar that has been made public so you can click on details of an event regarding more information for on/off campus performances, choir festivals and rehearsals. From this calendar you are able to reference other Performing Arts activities such as the Drama, Dance and Instrumental music events; Musical auditions, rehearsals and performances.
2008 ACDA Honor Choir
I would like to extend an invitation to all returning singers in the choir program and interested incoming singers to participate in the ACDA Honor Choir November 20-22. Every fall the bay area American Choral Directors Association chapter (in conjunction with other regions across California and the Western Division form a select choir made up of high school singers for a performance. I have posted here information for the audition and entry procedures.
An extra bonus for us this year is that rehearsals are at San Francisco State University and the performance is at St. Ignatius Catholic Church! In years past this event has typically been held at Stanford University (not a bad venue either!) further down the peninsula. Once you have taken a look at the audition procedure, email me with your questions and some ideas (or assistance!) with an appropriate audition piece. This is an optional activity.
