Some of these films might be available only at Le Video, the video store on 9th ave at Irving, next to Gordo’s burritos.-ask me!
Be sure your film has subtitles!! Dubbed films aren’t acceptable, and you won’t understand WITHOUT subtitles!
Pay close attention to all cultural differences, if your film takes place in relatively modern times--what & where & when they eat, where they hang out, how they get around, how their houses look, what they wear, forms of politeness, etc.
See a film in a cinema if a good one’s playing!

Suspense: -Diabolique (very scary boarding school mystery); -Diva (opera star/postman mystery); -With a Friend like Harry (creepy scary!); -Pépé le Moko (romance/danger in the Casbah); -Rififi (an INCREDIBLE robbery--15 real-time minutes w/no sound!!); -Samouri (great chase scene in métro); -Confidentially yours (mystery, danger, romance, rain); -8 femmes (8 FABULOUS French actresses,1 big house, 1 dead man!)

Films comiques: -L’Auberge espagnole (int’l college roommates); -Les compères (who’s the real father?); -3 hommes & un couffin (original of 3 Men & a baby); -Le placard (The Closet—man pretends to be gay); -A la mode (rags to riches story); -La chèvre; -Les visiteurs (medieval knights travel to future); -anything with Fernandel; -Grosse fatigue (someone wants to ruin a film director); -Tatie Danielle (really mean aunt, or is she really mean?)
