At The end of Jesus Christ Superstar all the actors but one (Jesus) gets back on the bus and goes off presumably to perform this play in another town or village.  Each one of these actors plays a role so well that we as the audience can believe that they have actually become the character they are portraying.

The purpose of this assignment is 3-fold

1. Character analysis of a character from the play of your choosing (simple form can be found HERE in Word Format)

2. You will inhabit one of the characters listed below

3. (following up on question 2)You will tell me what you see, are experiencing during this last week in Jesus’ life.

Requirements:

Typed paper (at least 2 pages) of:

A) Character analysis of your chosen character asking yourself the following questions:

To analyze a character, you must find out what makes him/her “tick.” Look at the character as you would anyone you meet for the first time or inhabit the character. Use the following areas for your discussion and use the lyrics HERE to fill in the blanks and you must refer to them in your paper:

  • physical traits - what the character looks like, how he/she dresses, how he moves
  • psychological/personality traits
  • motivation
  • behavior /actions
  • relationships - with other characters in the story, how others see/react to him/her
  • weaknesses/faults
  • strengths/virtues
  • moral constitution - often a character will agonize over right and wrong
  • protagonist/antagonist - does the story revolve around this character’s actions?

  • change - has the character changed during the course of the story? What was his/her motivation? Why?
