Honors Appeal Process: English Classes

If you wish to appeal an English honors placement decision, please meet with your English teacher to receive information about why you were not originally placed in your selected class. Then, you may send an email to the English Department Chair, Ms. Carole Nickolai, describing your situation and making your case. You must meet with your English teacher before sending an appeal. Your appeal should include the following information:

  • Full Name
  • Current English Class and Teacher
  • Course originally applied for (and denied)
  • Reason your English teacher denied your original application.
  • Reason for appeal. This should include a full description of the reasons you think your appeal should be granted. Please indicate any special circumstances, such as extended illness or documented learning differences, that may exist.
  • Describe in detail your personal goals for achievement in the course if you are admitted on appeal. How realistic are these goals? What specific things will you do to achieve them?

The deadline for submitting appeals is 8:30 am, Friday, March 14, 2008. Incomplete appeals will be denied. No appeals will be entertained after the deadline. Appeal results will be emailed to your S.I. email account by March 18.

Thank You.
