Off-Campus Retreat Center
The multi-day Kairos retreat is a culminating Christian experience for students, many of whom will go on to public colleges and universities. At a time when high school retreats are expanding, the number of retreat centers in the greater Bay Area is declining. In the past 10 years, four retreat centers have been sold to meet other financial exigencies within the Church, and the remaining eight centers are limiting the number of high school retreats in favor of adult retreats which tend toward higher fees. SI proposes to locate an appropriate site for a retreat center and develop it for its own use as well as the use of other Bay Area Catholic high schools.
