Arrupe Solidarity Council

The Arrupe Solidarity Council strives to promote the school theme for this year, How are we with others.We work with the clubs at Saint Ignatius to promote social justice and awareness through fundraisers and drives. Our efforts show the school’s dedication and support for groups in need outside of our own community.

We hold meetings twice a month to discuss upcoming events as well develop a sense of understanding of the education for social justice and social action in today’s world. We encourage participation and involvement in social justice in our everyday lives using the teachings of Fr. Pedro Arrupe and his influential speech Men for Others: Education for Social Justice and Social Action Today.

Students serving as club representatives attend Solidarity Council meetings to present ideas and fundraisers to the group. This representative is in charge of attending meetings to ensure that their club has an equal say in what goes on with the council. Decisions concerning fundraisers and scheduling are made at these meetings, and it is imperative that representatives attend.

On top of meetings there will be a new process to go about organizing and carrying out a fundraiser at SI (explained below). In order to ensure that your fundraiser is approved, it is important that you complete this process correctly. In order to conduct a fundraiser, a group must attain approvals from the Arrupe Solidarity Council (by a majority vote), the Campus Ministry Director, and Principal of the School.
