Freshmen: Tips for Christian Service
******************
Welcome to SI!
As part of your experience at SI, you will be asked to participate in service to our community.
This webpage has been created to help you (and your parents) as you learn about this graduation requirement. We hope it is helpful!!!
- Your service hours for SI begin once you have enrolled at St Ignatius. Student credit for service begins AFTER your first day of classes at SI. If you volunteered during middle school or over the summer before high school, that is great, but those hours are not eligible to be applied to your SI requirement.
- The service requirement is due at the start of Senior Year. As a Freshman you have more than enough time to complete this exciting community involvement project.
- The Christian Service Center (located in the Student Activities Center) is the department that works with all SI students to help them with the requirement. This office is your resource to service activities and it is where you can go to receive support. It is also where you go to turn in verification of any volunteering you do.
- During your Freshmen year, the Christian Service Director will come into your Religion Class for Two Days---to provide an in-depth overview of the service requirement. At that time you will receive a booklett about the requirement and you will be oriented to all the process. This two day service seminar is a helpful way to learn all about service! If you are curious about this orientation, please ask your Religion teacher or come on by the Christian Service Center office!
