Core
Agencies are Nonprofit Organizations that work closely with the SI CSP Office
and who foster an on-going relationship with SI student volunteers.

Core
Agencies are able to host student volunteers for at least a minimum of 40 service
hours (within a regular schedule of volunteering that does not take longer
than 6 months). These agencies also provide direct service opportunities
for at least 85% of the volunteer time, making it possible for SI
students to engage directly with organizaton clients and staff in meaningful
ways.

During
this time of core service, students reflect regularly via an SI journal
which they are provided. Students must have an SI journal in order for
their service to be considered a core project. It is the student's responsibility
to plan their core service experience and apply for a core journal BEFORE
beginning core service. Agencies should be aware of our SI student requirement, but ultimately it is the students job to fulfill any and all SI requirement activities.
- Core Agencies can expect
to have regular opportunities to recruit SI student volunteers via our Volunteer
Fairs and Christian Service staff.
- Christian Service expects that Core Agencies maintain contact
with us and provide updates on staff contact information, agency data etc. It is very important that Core Agencies maintain regular contact and provide updates to us so that we can support the referral of student volunteers to their site.
