Christmas Drive 2006
2006 CHRISTMAS DRIVE IS A GREAT SUCCESS!
Once again the SI community came together to raise funds and gather food boxes for Rose Court and St Dominic's. In total, SI students raised $17,000 for this cause--most of the funds ($13,000) were the result of an amazingly profitable Christmas Dance organized by Student Council.
On,Saturday, December 15, over 100 people participated as volunteers at the St Dominic's Christmas Store. Students assisted moms and dads as they browsed through the toy store, selecting gifts for their children at home. Once their toy shopping was complete, the guests were provided with a food box, a gift card for their holiday turkey and several bags of fresh produce. Father’s Club members added a festive touch as they provided door-to-door transportation for any guest that needed a ride to their home. The day was a huge success as we were able to help 300 families with gifts and food!
Thank you to everyone who provided donations or personal time to this project. As mentioned, there were many volunteers present on the day of our Christmas Store—but it took many many more to organize the fundraisers and encourage food box donations. In particular, thank you to Art Stellini who organized our father drivers, Frank Verducci who provided a gigantic truck that loaded our gifts and food, and Sal Rizzo who once again donated fresh produce for the St Dominic families. We are also very grateful for the SI organizers,in particular we would like to thank Maureen Sullivan, Mike Thomas & Tim Reardon with the Girls and Boys Basketball Teams, Matt Stecher, Mary Abinante, Cynthia Robertson, Mary Ahlbach & Veronica Bricker with the Social Justice Club, Jenny Girard and Patty Zatkin.
