Congressman John Lewis visited the SI community on February 18, 2015. A mere three weeks later, he invited President Obama to speak on the anniversary of one of the most critical acts of the Civil Rights Movement. Sunday, March 7th marked the fifty years of progress since Bloody Sunday, the day on which five hundred peaceful protesters were attacked while crossing the Edmund Pettus Bridge in a demonstration for African American voting rights. to read more
