Christian Service Requirements
In SI’s "Profile of the Graduate at Graduation," we envision our graduates as mature young adults - emotionally, intellectually, physically, socially, and religiously. In addition to classroom lessons, we challenge our students to experience learning in the real world. In this light, the service our students engage in helps to foster clear values that guide them toward a stronger understanding of Christian charity and justice. In this way, they strive to become “men and women for others.” As an integral part of the St. Ignatius curriculum and experience, we ask all students to make a Commitment To Service as a part of their graduation requirement.
The Christian Service Commitment carries a curricular requirement of providing service to others for at least 100 hours. Students are encouraged to participate in a variety of service activities during their time at SI. For the most part, all volunteer experiences may be credited to a student’s service commitment as long they are completed at a nonprofit, nonpartisan agency and the appropriate documentation is provided in a timely manner to the Christian Service Office for verification.
