We have All-Americans!!!

200 Free relay achieves first national distinction in school history.

Hope all have enjoyed the holiday weekend. Is it me or do they get fewer and shorter every year?

As if you haven't heard it was a banner year for the 2005 SI swim team. Lots of firsts: Varsity & JV WCAL League Champs, 4th Place CCS finish, 9 school records and 4 pool records. The only thing left was the final results for 2005 All-Americans. Well this last piece was announced over the weekend.

All-American - Yeah!
  • 200 Free Relay - Natalie Schwab, MacKenzie Campbell, Mallory Ryan, Francesca Lollini.
    • 1:38.51 22nd Overall - This accomplishment should not be taken lightly. Being one of just a few schools in the Bay Area let alone the nation that trains as a group in its own pool, you have shown that hard work and personnel sacrifice does pay off. No matter what happens from here, you will forever be All-Americans. Truely Awesome.

All-American Consideration - Still Yeah!

  • Francesca Lollini, 50 Free 24.11 31st Overall: Just missed 30th place by 0.01 seconds! First reaction is ouch, but when you look at the names (lots of diehard elite club swimmers) above her and knowing the effort it took to drop from 24.4 to 24.1 you know its a great accomplishment. She also improved from 46th last year.
  • JC Sheppard, 100 Fly 58.32 45th Overall: An awesome swim netted her first AAC cut. With more underwater work and bigger guns, no telling where she will end up in her final year.
  • 200 Medley Relay - Ruthie Dimagmaliw, Misao Tachibana, JC Sheppard, Francesca Lollini.
    • 1:51.68 35th Overall: Best finish in school history.
  • 400 Free Relay - Mallory Ryan, MacKenzie Campbell, Lyndsie Dellaria, Francesca Lollini.
    • 3:36.74 34th Overall: Another best finish in school history. Best team effort as they dropped 7 seconds from the prior weeks league champ finish.
2006 All-American Cuts & Format Change
Already? Yup it's never to early to set goals, so take a look. There will no longer be separate Public & Independent placings. Instead the fastest 130 athletes will determine who earns 2006 All-American honors. The automatic time is a tad slower, but consideration is faster. If this year proved anything, let's not mess around with consideration cuts.

Gentle reminder: Next season will be here faster than you think. With the programs success, comes the draw to join. Improving upon last year is a great way to ensure your place.
That's all for now. Have fun.
Greg
