Meet Results

Herbst Natatorium - The SI Wildcats women's swim team opened the 2006 this past weekend. Defending their own 9th Annual City Invitational, SI extended their win streak to 6 straight, and 7 of the 9 titles.

With many of the teams leaders away on college visits, the "younger" kids had an opportunity to show what they can do and that they did. Soph Cassandar Gallagher shattered last years tapered time by over 2 seconds with a personnel best 1: 04.92, attaining her first CCS cut. Frosh Lauren Quan made a big splash for the smallest member of the team. She began with a personnel best in the 200 IM of 2:22.58 and followed that up with a 1:12.44 in the 100 Breast. Not only a CCS qualifying time, but good enough for the 5th best in SI history.    Rounding out the day were the double wins from a trio of sophomores. Soph Ruthie Dimagmaliw had solid swims with wins in the 100 Fly (1: 01.20) and 100 Back (1:01.60), both times solidly under CCS cuts and under a second from her lifetime bests. Soph Mallory Ryan also won both her events with CCS qualifying swims in the 200 Free (2:00.07) and 100 Free (57.10 ). Soph Lauren Padilla attained her CCS cut in the 200 IM with a time of 2:20.76 and cruised to another win in the 100 IM. So five CCS events, 5 CCS cuts. Not to shabby.

The Wildcats next see action this Wednesday, March 1, at SI versus East Bay powerhouse, Carondelet. Meet starts at 3:00pm.
