Best CCS Finish Ever!!!

We have All-American!!!!

2005 CCS
With the largest showing in school history (15 swimmers), the meet was a showcase of what SI Swimming has become in the past 4 years. After just breaking into the team scoring in 2001 with 5 points, the SI team has been steady climbing the leader board. With last years 6th place finish and 111 points, the 2005 team goal was to crack the Top 4 and take home a team trophy.

At the end of a long day with the team captain and master relay anchor headed to her Senior Prom in the City, the news came out that SI had finished a very contentious team title with goals met - 4th Place and 157 points. This matches the best showing the school has had on both men's or women's teams as the 2001 & 2002 Men's Team finished 4th as well.

All-American Automatic!!!
The 200 Free Relay team of Natalie Schwab, MacKenzie Campbell, Mallory Ryan and Francesca Lollini attained the automatic time standard. This is first for SI girl's swimming and I'm told by some seasoned swim coaches the first in the City.

A truly huge accomplishment that won't sink in for a long time.

Team Records

A total of 8 (of 11) new school records fell over the weekend. A brief run down (if you can be with 8 records):
200 Medley Relay set a new school record of 1:51.68. This is more than a second under the All-American Consideration (AAC) time. Probably won't make the Top 30.

  • 200 Free - Mallory Ryan lowered her own school record with a time of 1:57.14.
  • 200 IM - Ruthie Dimagmaliw lowered her own school record with a time of 2:13.58.
  • 50 Free - Francesca Lollini lowered her own school record with a time of 24.11. The time is well under All-American Consideration and we are hopeful this will make the All-American team. Final results won't be know until late July 2005.
  • 100 Fly - JC Sheppard lowered her own school record with a time of 58.32. Also under All-American Consideration by 0.07. Believe it of not, probably not fast enough to be All-American but still a very fast swim. She still has one year left!
  • 100 Free - MacKenzie Campbell broke Francesca's school records twice and finished with a time of 53.47. Fast? Yup!
  • 200 Free Relay - All-American for sure!!! Splits: Natalie 25.11, MacKenzie 24.34, Mallory 25.01 and Francesca 24.04. Wow!
  • 400 Free Relay - Hands down the biggest surprise of the meet. Long been the Achilles heal for the team, the last event of the meet is always a test of will over might. With a time of 3:43.00 at WCAL Trials, the team of Mallory, MacKenzie, Lyndsie Delleria and Francesca shattered the old school record with a time of 3:36.75 (54.2 average). This is almost 4 seconds under All-American Consideration. It would have made the cut last year but will be very close this year. Fingers crossed.
Onto the Awards Banquet this Tuesday. We send out final team results later this week and also when the All-American team is announced.

    All the best. Greg
