Lake Chabot is located in Castro Valley in the East Bay. Vince Horpel (former rowing coach at Berkeley High School) is in the process of staring a new rowing club to serve the residents in the East Bay, southern Alameda County and Tri-Valley areas. If interested in supporting the cause, you can send him an e-mail at RowChabot@aol.com.
Take 580 East towards Hayward. Exit at Fairmont Ave/150th St. Head East (left) on Fairmont Ave. Go up the hill and down the other side. Near the bottom of the hill, Fairmont Ave. becomes Lake Chabot Road (do not take left turn). The entrance to Lake Chabot Marina will be almost immediately on the left. Private cars may park for free on Lake Chabot Rd. outside the park entrance, or in the marina parking lot for $4 per car. TRAILERS should continue past the marina entrance to the next driveway on the left. Turn left into the driveway, and then take the first left onto the dirt road into the overflow parking area. Signs will be posted indicating directions to the trailer parking area.
Take Hwy 92 (San Mateo Bridge) toward Hayward, then take 880 North to Hwy 238 (Castro Valley). From Hwy 238, exit at Castro Valley Blvd. Turn Left onto Castro Valley Blvd. Turn left onto Lake Chabot Rd. Continue approximately 1-2 miles, past Seven Hills Rd. and fire house. Look for Arcadian Rd. on the right hand side of the street. TRAILERS will enter at the driveway on the right, almost immediately after passing Arcadian Rd. This driveway will be marked with signs for trailers. Once entering the driveway, turn left onto the dirt road into the overflow parking lot. Private passenger cars may continue past the trailer parking entrance, to the Lake Chabot Marina entrance. Parking inside the marina gate is $4 per vehicle. Street parking is also available and is free of charge.

Take 101 North across the Golden Gate Bridge, go about 15 minutes and take the San Quentin, Sir Francis Drake Exit. Stay to the left and merge onto Sir Francis Drake Blvd. Go to the first light, and take a left (out of a double left turn lane) onto Eliseo Dr. Take the first left onto Drake Landing Blvd., and within a minute, you will enter an office complex. Go left past the stone entrance marked the Drake Landing Office Center, to the grey building marked #50. The access to the water is behind the building.
Follow the same route as above, but at the San Quentin, Sir Francis Drake exit, stay to the right (marked Richmond Bridge) and exit to the right. Follow that road past the entrance to the Larkspur Ferry, and as you continue, you will pass the ferry terminal off on your right across the water. As you pass the ferry terminal, begin to look for parting along the road for the next quarter mile. This will be the best viewing venue for the racing.
