Richard begins his fourth season as assistant coach for the Frosh/Novice squad. In his spare time, he maintains the SI Crew website. Richard began his rowing career at Saint Ignatius in 1988. In his four years at Saint Ignatius, he coxed the Novice A, Junior Varsity, and Varsity eights. After graduation, Richard coxed the Freshman Eight for Boston University and later transferred to the University of Washington. At Washington, he coxed the 1995 Junior Varsity Eight to a 1st place finish at the IRA Championship and a 2nd place finish in the Thames Cup at the Henley Royal Regatta in England. In 1996, he coxed the Varsity Eight to a 2nd place finish at the IRA Championship. He began his coaching career in 1997 at Washington as the Men's Varsity Intern Coach. That year, Washington swept the IRA Championships by winning the Varsity Eight, Junior Varsity Eight, and Freshman Eight events. After a three year break, he returned to the rowing world by joining the Saint Ignatius coaching staff.
